It is also the better reviewed of the two, with a 3 year warranty against 1 year. The GoveeLife Smart Air Quality Monitor is the unit that actually sees PM2.5, adds humidity alerts the thermostat does not offer, and can drive a Govee purifier from its app, but it stays on Alexa and Home Assistant and has to remain on USB-C power. What the differences mean
Gases versus particles
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium measures carbon dioxide and TVOC, plus occupancy, so a closed occupied room is visible to the heating system. The GoveeLife Smart Air Quality Monitor measures PM2.5 instead, the particle load from cooking, smoke and dust.
