Kidde is an American fire safety manufacturer founded in 1917 and one of the largest makers of residential smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Alongside its traditional hardwired and battery alarms it sells a connected range that adds Wi-Fi, app notifications and voice alerts, including combination units that also monitor indoor air quality and models that report into the Ring app. It also makes fire extinguishers, escape ladders and water leak and freeze detectors.

Qingping Technology is a Beijing company that builds indoor environmental sensors, and one of the better known hardware partners in the Xiaomi ecosystem. Its range covers air quality monitors that measure PM2.5, PM10, CO2, temperature and humidity, plus thermometer-hygrometers, motion and light sensors and a Bluetooth gateway. Devices pair with the Qingping+ app and, depending on model, with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Mi Home.
