What the differences mean
Local card vs cloud plan
The Aqara Camera G100 has a microSD slot, continuous video history and offline event history, so clips can stay in the house. Cloud on that camera is optional and marked subscription required, mainly for the richer AI alerts. The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro has no internal storage and no card slot. Its continuous history, and even event history when power is out, is subscription required, and offline event history is not offered. Without a plan you are left with live view.
Power and radio
The Aqara Camera G100 is mains powered on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, with no battery and no 5 GHz band. The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro is a rechargeable battery camera that can also be wired, and it joins both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Battery life on the Ring is not published. If the outlet is awkward, the Ring mounts more freely. If you want a cord and no charging, the Aqara is the simpler power story.
HDR, RTSP and platforms
The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro lists HDR, which the Aqara Camera G100 does not. The Aqara lists RTSP and works with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant, with Matter called an upcoming update rather than a current feature. The Ring works with Alexa and Home Assistant only. A HomeKit household, or anyone feeding a recorder over RTSP, is looking at the Aqara. An Alexa-only house can ignore that gap.
What the alerts include
Motion and person alerts are on the Aqara Camera G100 without a plan. Animals, vehicles, familiar faces and packages are supported there only with a subscription. The Ring Spotlight Cam Pro keeps person and package alerts behind a plan too, and it does not list animal or vehicle detection at all. The wider alert list is the Aqara's, but several of those labels are not free.

What owners say
Owners of both cameras praise a night picture that stays usable and a light that does more than glow. Aqara Camera G100 owners single out a near plug-and-play HomeKit setup, sharp 2K detail, spotlight color night vision and local microSD or NAS recording with no plan, and they complain about a short USB-C cable, 2.4 GHz drops, shutdowns in direct sun and AI alerts locked to a subscription. Ring Spotlight Cam Pro owners talk up dual-band Wi-Fi that stays connected, spotlights used as yard lighting, a second battery slot and HDR color at night. Their complaints are a battery door that is very hard to open and recordings that exist only with a Ring Protect plan, since there is no card to fall back on.
