EZVIZ OutPro (C3TN 3MP) Review: 2K Outdoor Security Without a Subscription

The verdict

The OutPro is the 2K refresh of EZVIZ's long-selling C3TN bullet, and owners upgrading from the older model describe the jump in clarity as the whole point: the 2304 by 1296 sensor resolves detail the 1080p version never did. Two spotlights give it genuine colour night vision to about 30 metres, with an infrared mode when you want the garden dark, and detection is AI human shape recognition rather than plain motion, backed by a siren and flashing lights. It is IP67, it has an Ethernet port as well as Wi-Fi, and buyers repeatedly note that the Wi-Fi holds up through walls where a phone would not. Recording goes to a microSD card, so no subscription is required, and there is desktop software as well as the phone app. It is a closed system, though: it lives inside EZVIZ's app and cloud, and one buyer who wanted it in a third-party network recorder found it would not go. Fixed lens, so it watches one direction well rather than everywhere.

Best for
  • Sharper outdoor detail than a 1080p camera
  • Colour night vision over a drive or garden
  • Subscription-free recording to microSD
  • Wired Ethernet or long-range Wi-Fi placements

Pros

  • 2K sensor that owners say clearly outresolves the older 1080p C3TN
  • Colour night vision from two spotlights, or infrared to 30 metres
  • AI human shape detection with a siren and strobe for deterrence
  • IP67 build that owners report surviving months of bad weather
  • Records to microSD with no subscription, plus a desktop app
  • Ethernet port and Wi-Fi that reaches through walls

Cons

  • Closed system: a buyer could not add it to a third-party network recorder
  • Human detection still triggers on dogs and squirrels for some owners
  • Occasional Wi-Fi drops, and connection trouble reported months in
  • Fixed lens, so no panning or tilting to follow movement
  • No memory card included, and one owner struggled to get a card recognised
  • No HDR and no Apple Home support

Who is the OutPro for?

This is a mains-powered fixed bullet camera for a wall, IP67 rated and specified from -20 to 50 degrees. The 2.8 mm lens covers 109 degrees horizontally, and the sensor records 2304 by 1296 at up to 30 fps with H.265 compression, so a card holds far more footage than the previous generation. Night vision runs in colour using two built-in spotlights or in black and white infrared out to 30 metres, and detection is AI human shape recognition, with user-defined alarm tones and the spotlights doubling as a strobe. Storage is a microSD card of up to 256 GB or EZVIZ CloudPlay, and it connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or the RJ45 Ethernet port. It weighs 253 g and mounts on the supplied bracket.

What buyers love

Image quality leads every positive review, in daylight and at night: owners replacing an older C3TN or a rival camera call the 2K detail a world apart, and the colour night vision turns a previously black yard into a usable picture. Setup is described as painless, the app as user friendly, and the Wi-Fi as unusually good at reaching a distant corner of a property through walls. Several buyers already own four or five EZVIZ cameras and keep adding these, and one reports months of the worst weather with no trouble. The absence of a mandatory subscription comes up constantly, along with the desktop client for watching several cameras on a computer, and one owner set an audible alert on detection that even the postman noticed.

What to know before you buy

It is a closed ecosystem. A British buyer rated it one star because the camera would not join his own network video recorder, and while EZVIZ exposes an RTSP stream that the official Home Assistant integration uses, this is not a camera to buy for a third-party NVR. Human detection is good but not infallible: a German owner gets alerts from the dog and from squirrels. A few owners report the camera dropping Wi-Fi occasionally, and one Spanish buyer had connection problems appear months in. Getting a memory card recognised frustrated one reviewer, and no card is included. The lens is fixed, so unlike EZVIZ's pan and tilt models it covers one direction only, and there is no HDR and no Apple Home support.

Is the OutPro worth it?

It is the sensible pick when you know exactly which way the camera should point and you want detail rather than coverage. The 2K image, the colour night vision and the siren put it ahead of the cheap 1080p bullets it sits beside, and local recording keeps the running cost at zero. If you want to sweep a whole garden from one unit, the pan and tilt C8c is the better shape, and if the camera has to live in your own NVR or in Apple Home, this is not the brand for that job.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really 2K?

Yes. The sensor records 2304 by 1296, which is the 3MP resolution EZVIZ markets as 2K, at up to 30 fps with H.265 compression. Owners coming from the 1080p C3TN describe the difference in clarity as the main reason to upgrade.

Do I need a subscription?

No. It takes a microSD card of up to 256 GB and records locally, which is the reason many buyers choose the brand. EZVIZ CloudPlay is available if you want off-site copies. No card is included, and one reviewer had a fight getting his card recognised, so use a card from the compatibility list.

Can I add it to my own NVR or to Home Assistant?

Home Assistant yes, through the official EZVIZ integration, which pulls the camera from your account and uses the local RTSP stream. A third-party network video recorder is a different matter: one owner returned to a one-star review because the camera would not integrate with his recorder, so treat this as a camera for the EZVIZ app rather than an open IP camera.

How does the night vision work?

Two built-in spotlights light the scene for full-colour footage, or you can switch to black and white infrared, which reaches about 30 metres without any visible light. Owners moving from a camera with no night vision describe the difference as going from a black screen to a fully visible yard.

Does it pan or zoom?

No. The OutPro has a fixed 2.8 mm lens covering 109 degrees horizontally, so it watches one direction. If you want a camera that sweeps a whole garden or follows people across it, the motorised C8c in the same family is the one to look at.
