2026 verdict
Wired power beats solar charging when a camera has to run all day: the Reolink OMVI 2i PoE is the stronger security camera of this pair.
It brings Power over Ethernet on a single cable, 24/7 recording to a microSD card or an NVR with no subscription, RTSP and Home Assistant, an IP66 shell and a 2-year warranty. The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K answers with a wire-free setup, a 6400 mAh battery that its solar panel keeps topped up, a 360-degree pan and 70-degree tilt, Alexa and Google Home, and the lower price of the two. Both shoot 2K with color night vision and a spotlight. Choose the Reolink OMVI 2i PoE where a network cable can be run and no fee is wanted, and the Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K for a fence, shed or rental where there is no power at all.

What the differences mean
Power and cable
The Reolink OMVI 2i PoE runs on one Power over Ethernet cable that carries both data and power, so it records around the clock. The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K relies on a battery charged by its solar panel, which means no cable at all but motion-only recording and a panel that needs some sun.
Local storage
The Reolink OMVI 2i PoE records 24/7 to a microSD card up to 512GB or to an NVR, with no subscription. The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K also saves motion events to a card, but its person, pet, package and vehicle alerts and its cloud clips run through the paid Cam Plus plan, and it cannot record continuously.
Weatherproofing and warranty
An IP66 rating and a 2-year warranty make the Reolink OMVI 2i PoE the tougher of the two against rain and dust. The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K is rated IP65 with a 1-year warranty, which is fine under a covered spot but a step less sealed for an exposed wall.
Coverage and tracking
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K pans a full 360 degrees and tilts 70 degrees on its own. The Reolink OMVI 2i PoE pairs a wide lens with a pan-tilt lens that swings 340 degrees and tilts 55 degrees, so it tracks a subject inside a fixed wide view rather than sweeping a whole circle.
Monthly cost
Neither camera needs a plan just to record, but they get there differently. The Reolink OMVI 2i PoE is subscription-free for every feature, while the Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K keeps free local motion clips but puts smart person, pet, package and vehicle alerts behind Cam Plus.
Which one to buy if
- you can run a network cable to the spot
One PoE cable powers the Reolink OMVI 2i PoE and lets it record 24/7 with no subscription.
- the mount has no outlet and no cable path
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K runs on a solar-charged battery, so it needs nothing but a little sun.
- you want local recordings without a monthly fee
The Reolink OMVI 2i PoE records to a microSD card or an NVR and never asks for a plan.
- one camera must sweep a whole yard on its own
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan 2K pans a full 360 degrees and tilts 70 degrees, covering a wider arc than a fixed lens.
