The Ring Window and Door Contact Sensor (2nd gen) is the steadier, higher-rated performer, with fast, dependable alerts on Ring Alarm. The Aqara sensor is excellent on an Aqara hub or Zigbee2MQTT but can drop offline on a mixed ZHA Zigbee network.

Buy it if you already run or plan to build a Ring Alarm system and want a cheap, well-rated, easy-to-mount sensor with instant alerts and multi-year CR2032 battery life. It needs the base station, so it is not for standalone use.

Buy the Aqara Door and Window Sensor if you want HomeKit or Matter support, tamper alerts, and light or lock automations from a tiny, discreet sensor, and you already run an Aqara hub or a Zigbee2MQTT network.
