Alongside door and window contact it senses motion and ambient light, so one unit can trigger a lamp when a cabinet opens or a hallway light only after dark. Sonoff SenseGuard DW Gen2 detects contact only, plus tampering, with no motion or light sensing.

Both effectively do. SwitchBot Contact Sensor works over Bluetooth in the SwitchBot app alone, but remote access, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, IFTTT and Matter all require a SwitchBot Hub. Sonoff SenseGuard DW Gen2 needs a Zigbee coordinator, which can be Home Assistant, SmartThings or any standard hub.

Home Assistant and Zigbee users who want a standards-based sensor with tamper alerting, low-battery warnings and history logging, without buying into a proprietary hub. If you want motion and light sensing in the same device, SwitchBot Contact Sensor covers more ground for less.
