Home Assistant Green is a small computer running Home Assistant, the software that connects and automates devices from many brands locally. The SwitchBot Hub 2 is an appliance with a fixed job: infrared control, climate sensing and a bridge for SwitchBot gear.

Infrared and sensors

The SwitchBot Hub 2 learns remotes and measures temperature, humidity and light, so it can run an air conditioner from its own readings. Home Assistant Green has no IR and no sensors; it automates what other devices report.

Zigbee and Thread
