Moes ZigBee Smart LED Bulb Review: Color and Tunable White on a Budget Zigbee Bulb

RGB color plus a full 2700K to 6500K white range at 806 lumens, with a two year warranty and a Zigbee hub requirement.

The verdict

The Moes ZigBee Smart LED Light Bulb is a cheap way to add color lighting to a Zigbee setup. It delivers 806 lumens from a 9 W E27 bulb, covers the whole 2700K to 6500K white range as well as RGB color, supports dimming, dynamic scenes and power-off memory, and carries a two year warranty, which is longer than most bulbs at this price. It works with Google Home, Alexa and Home Assistant, but not with Apple HomeKit, SmartThings, IFTTT or Matter, and like every Zigbee bulb it needs a hub. Its wide 90-250V input makes it unusually flexible across regions.

Best for
  • Zigbee homes on a budget
  • Color and mood lighting
  • Google Home and Alexa users
  • Home Assistant setups

Pros

  • RGB color plus the full 2700K to 6500K white range
  • 806 lumens at 9 W, the standard 60 W equivalent
  • Low price
  • Two year warranty, longer than most bulbs
  • Dimmable, with dynamic scene effects
  • Power-off memory for behaviour after an outage
  • Wide 90-250V input suits different regions
  • Works with Google Home, Alexa and Home Assistant

Cons

  • Requires a Zigbee hub, with no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth fallback
  • No Apple HomeKit support
  • No Samsung SmartThings, IFTTT or Matter support
  • E27 screw fitting only
  • Zigbee router capability and transition control are not documented

Who is the Moes ZigBee bulb for?

It is aimed at someone who already has a Zigbee hub and wants color light without paying brand-name prices. Zigbee is the sensible protocol once you own more than a couple of bulbs, since the devices form their own mesh instead of filling up your Wi-Fi network. Google Home, Alexa and Home Assistant cover the most common ways people control lights, and the Home Assistant route in particular suits anyone running a Zigbee coordinator with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA.

What you get

Brightness is 806 lumens, the standard 60 W equivalent, from a 9 W E27 bulb. Color coverage is the selling point: RGB for colored scenes plus the full 2700K to 6500K white range, so it works both as a mood light and as everyday room lighting rather than forcing you to choose. Dimming is supported, dynamic scenes give you pre-programmed effects that change over time, and power-off memory lets you decide whether the bulb comes back on after a power cut. The 90-250V input range is broader than most bulbs, which makes it usable across regions that differ in mains voltage, and the two year warranty is double the usual cover.

What to know before you buy

A Zigbee hub is mandatory: there is no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth and no Thread, so the bulb cannot be paired directly to a phone. Platform support has real gaps, with no Apple HomeKit, no Samsung SmartThings, no IFTTT and no Matter, so an Apple household should look elsewhere. The fitting is E27 screw, which rules out bayonet sockets without an adapter. Two specs are not documented for this model, whether it can act as a Zigbee router for other devices and how finely transitions can be tuned, so do not count on either when planning.

Is the Moes ZigBee bulb worth it?

It competes on price, and it competes well: color plus full-range tunable white at standard brightness, for less than most white-only bulbs from the big brands, with a longer warranty. The catch is ecosystem fit. If your home runs on Google Home, Alexa or Home Assistant with a Zigbee hub already in place, it is an easy way to add colored light cheaply. If you need HomeKit, SmartThings or Matter, no price makes it the right bulb.

Frequently asked questions

Why it needs a Zigbee coordinator

The Moes ZigBee Smart LED Light Bulb speaks Zigbee, not Wi-Fi. On its own it cannot reach your phone, your voice assistant or any automation: it needs a Zigbee coordinator to join. These are the ones in our catalog that can run it.
