2026 verdict
Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition (16GB + 1TB) versus GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra (32GB + 512GB) comes down to DDR5 and double the memory: the GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra takes this mini PC matchup, rated higher by owners too.
It also carries Radeon 680M graphics, two USB4 ports, dual 2.5G Ethernet and a front OCuLink connector for an external GPU, a different class of connectivity from the Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition's USB-C DisplayPort and single 2.5G jack. The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition still wins on price, on its 1TB drive versus 512GB, and on a three-year warranty against the GMKtec's one year. Choose the M7 Ultra for DDR5, USB4 and an upgrade path to an eGPU; choose the Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition if storage, four-display output and longer coverage matter more than raw memory.

What the differences mean
Memory generation and capacity
The GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra ships 32GB of DDR5-4800, double the Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition's 16GB of DDR4, though both expand to 64GB across two SO-DIMM slots.
Storage out of the box
The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition ships a 1TB NVMe drive. The GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra ships 512GB, though it has two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 slots so a second drive can be added.
Display outputs
The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition drives up to four screens through two HDMI 2.0 ports and two USB-C DisplayPort outputs. The GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra drives up to four as well, but through HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0 and its two USB4 ports.
External GPU path
The GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra has a front OCuLink port at PCIe Gen4 x4 for an external GPU enclosure. The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition has no equivalent port.
Which one to buy if
- your workload actually uses more than 16GB of memory
The GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra ships 32GB of DDR5 out of the box, double the Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition's 16GB of DDR4.
- storage out of the box and a longer warranty matter most
The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition ships a 1TB drive and three years of coverage against the M7 Ultra's 512GB and one year.
- an external GPU is somewhere in your future plans
Its front OCuLink port gives a PCIe Gen4 x4 link the Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition has no equivalent for.
- you want an SD reader and a Kensington lock in the box
The Geekom A5 Pro 2026 Edition includes both; the GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra has neither.

What owners say
GMKtec NucBox M7 Ultra (32GB + 512GB) owners repeatedly single out how quiet it runs, describing the dual-fan cooling as silent even while multitasking, and how much expandability the aluminium chassis hides: the top cover comes off without tools and a second NVMe drive drops straight into the free M.2 slot. The front OCuLink port earns specific praise as an upgrade path that means not replacing the whole machine when interest shifts toward GPU computing or local language models. Two owners hit a Windows activation problem on first boot that needed an email to support, resolved quickly, and one unit failed within two months with the graphics output dying. GMKtec's support gets unprompted praise for turning both issues around fast, and the integrated graphics are flagged as unsuitable for PC-tethered VR.
