2026 verdict
Four times the RAM is not subtle, and the GMKtec NucBox M5 Ultra (32GB + 512GB) is the mini PC that wins.
It leads on 32GB versus 8GB and on 512GB versus 256GB, with a Ryzen 7 7730U, dual 2.5G Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E and a dedicated DisplayPort. The Geekom Mini Air12 (Pentium 7505 8GB + 256GB) is cheaper and the one with a 3 year warranty, which still makes sense for a light, VESA-mounted Windows terminal. Choose the M5 Ultra for real desktop work; choose the Mini Air12 when the spend has to stay at the bottom of the category.
