2026 verdict
An older Apple flagship against a newer budget Windows mini PC, and the budget box wins on paper.
GMKtec NucBox M6 Ultra (32GB + 1TB) costs less than Apple Mac Mini (M2 Pro 16GB + 512GB) while doubling the memory to 32GB against 16GB and nearly doubling the storage to 1TB against 512GB. Apple Mac Mini (M2 Pro 16GB + 512GB) counters with a higher owner rating, a 10-core CPU paired with a 16-core GPU at 200GB/s of memory bandwidth, and four Thunderbolt 4 ports, more than any other machine in this matchup. Both carry a one-year warranty. Choose GMKtec NucBox M6 Ultra (32GB + 1TB) for more memory and storage at a lower price; choose Apple Mac Mini (M2 Pro 16GB + 512GB) for Apple's port array and a workload that benefits from its GPU.
