UGREEN NASync DXP6800 Pro Review: Six Bays, Dual 10 GbE, Thunderbolt

A Core i5-1235U with ECC support, 208 TB of capacity and two Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The verdict

The DXP6800 Pro is a serious six-bay: an Intel Core i5-1235U with ten cores, 8 GB DDR5 expandable to 64 GB with ECC support, two 10 GbE ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a PCIe expansion slot, 8K HDMI and an SD 4.0 reader. At 208 TB raw it covers most home and small-studio needs without moving to a rack.

Best for
  • Video production
  • Dual 10 GbE
  • Thunderbolt workflows
  • RAID 6
  • Large libraries

Pros

  • Two 10 GbE ports
  • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports at 40 Gbps
  • Hardware transcoding via Intel graphics
  • ECC support with memory to 64 GB
  • Six bays plus two M.2 slots, 208 TB raw
  • SD 4.0 card reader
  • Three-year warranty

Cons

  • Noise level not published
  • Virtual machine support not explicitly documented
  • 43.07 W under access
  • UGOS Pro is far newer than DSM

Who is the DXP6800 Pro for?

Small studios and demanding homes that need more than four bays, real network throughput to more than one machine, and the option of a direct Thunderbolt link for editing.

What the DXP6800 Pro offers

Six bays plus two M.2 NVMe slots to 208 TB raw, a Core i5-1235U with integrated graphics, 8 GB DDR5 to 64 GB with ECC support, two 10 GbE ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a PCIe x4 slot, 8K HDMI, SD 4.0, RAID 5 and 6, and a three-year warranty.

What to know before you buy

It draws 43.07 W under access and UGREEN does not publish a noise figure, so plan on it living somewhere other than a bedroom. Virtual machine support is not explicitly documented for this model even though Docker is.

Is the DXP6800 Pro worth it?

On paper it beats every Synology here on I/O: dual 10 GbE, Thunderbolt and hardware transcoding together, with a three-year warranty. The counterweight remains UGOS Pro's shorter track record.

Frequently asked questions

How does it compare with the Synology DS1825+?

The UGREEN has two 10 GbE ports as standard, Thunderbolt, HDMI, an SD reader and hardware transcoding, none of which the DS1825+ offers. Synology counters with eighteen-bay expansion and a far more mature operating system.

Is ECC really supported?

UGREEN states ODECC (on-die ECC) support. That is not the same as full ECC with error reporting to the system, so treat it as a lesser protection than the ECC on a Synology Plus model.
