Meross Matter Smart Plug Mini Review: A Tiny Matter Plug That Works With Every Platform

48 mm square, 14 A rated, with native Matter support covering Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings without a hub.

The verdict

The Meross MSS115 is a compact Matter smart plug, and Matter is the whole point: because support is native rather than bridged, it pairs directly with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings, plus Home Assistant, with no hub and no vendor lock-in. It is small at 48 mm square, rated 14 A on 120 V, and has a physical button for local control. What it does not include is energy monitoring, which some rivals offer at the same price, and it connects only on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Best for
  • Matter-first smart homes
  • Apple HomeKit users
  • Households mixing platforms
  • Stacked outlets where size matters

Pros

  • Native Matter support, with no hub or bridge required
  • Works with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant
  • Very compact at 48 x 48 x 30 mm, so it does not block the second outlet
  • 14 A rating on 120 V
  • Physical on/off button for local control
  • Scheduling, timers and automations
  • Low price

Cons

  • No energy monitoring
  • No IFTTT support
  • Type B plug at 120 V, so North American outlets only
  • 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only
  • No USB charging port
  • Maximum load in watts is not documented
  • One year warranty

Who is the Meross Matter Plug Mini for?

It suits anyone who does not want their plugs to decide their ecosystem. With native Matter, the same device works in Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings, and it also lands in Home Assistant, so it survives a change of platform, which is the usual reason smart plugs get thrown away. The compact 48 x 48 x 30 mm body is the other practical draw: on a double outlet it leaves room for the second socket, which bulkier plugs block.

What it offers

A 14 A rating on 120 V, which covers most household appliances short of the heaviest heaters. Wi-Fi with Bluetooth for setup means no hub is needed, and Meross advertises fast setup through Apple's FFS-style flow. A physical on/off button keeps manual control available when the network is down, and scheduling, timers and automations run through whichever platform you pair it with.

What to know before you buy

There is no energy monitoring, so it switches appliances but cannot tell you what they consume, which is a real gap if you were buying a plug to find power-hungry devices. IFTTT is not supported. It is a Type B plug at 120 V, so it is for North American outlets. Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only, there is no USB charging port, no weather resistance for outdoor use, and the maximum load in watts is not documented, only the 14 A current rating.

Is the Meross Matter Plug Mini worth it?

It is inexpensive, and native Matter with support across all four major platforms plus Home Assistant is unusual at this price, especially in a body this small. Buy it if you value compatibility and size. If you specifically want to measure consumption, a plug with energy monitoring is the better use of the same money, even at the cost of some ecosystem breadth.
