Shelly 2PM Gen3 vs Shelly 2PM Gen4

The Shelly 2PM Gen4 is the stronger overall relay, adding a Zigbee radio, a full overheating, overvoltage, overcurrent and overpower safety suite, a Zigbee router role and Samsung SmartThings support. The Shelly 2PM Gen3 is the better value if you do not need those additions.

Radios and protection. The Shelly 2PM Gen4 adds native Zigbee and a complete four-way safety suite that the Shelly 2PM Gen3 does not confirm. Both are two-channel, 16A, Wi-Fi and Matter relays with per-channel energy monitoring and a cover mode.

Effectively yes. Both the Shelly 2PM Gen3 and the Shelly 2PM Gen4 offer two 16A channels, per-channel energy monitoring, Matter, Wi-Fi and an interlock/cover mode for shutters. The Gen4 layers newer radios and safety protection on top of that shared base.

The Shelly 2PM Gen4 supports Zigbee natively and can act as a Zigbee router, in addition to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Matter. The Shelly 2PM Gen3 is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth with Matter, but has no Zigbee radio.

Buyers who want the latest dual-channel relay with Zigbee, a full safety suite and Zigbee router capability for roller shutters, blinds or two circuits. It requires a neutral wire, like the Gen3.

Anyone who wants the same two-channel, 16A, energy-monitoring cover relay at a lower price and does not need Zigbee or the extra safety cutoffs of the Shelly 2PM Gen4.
