Shelly Plus 1PM vs Shelly PM Mini Gen3

The Shelly Plus 1PM wins overall. It meters like the PM Mini but also switches a 16A load, supports dry and wet contact modes, lists a full protection set and adds SmartThings support, with a 3-year warranty. The Shelly PM Mini Gen3 is cheaper and smaller, but measurement only.

The relay. The Shelly Plus 1PM can switch the circuit it measures, including through isolated dry contacts, while the Shelly PM Mini Gen3 can only report what the circuit consumes. If you need both control and data in one module, the Plus 1PM is the answer.

The Shelly PM Mini Gen3, at 29 x 34 x 16 mm and 13g, against 37 x 42 x 16 mm and around 27g for the Shelly Plus 1PM. That difference matters in a crowded back box or when you are tucking a module into an appliance or a light fitting.

Both report power, voltage, current and accumulated consumption for a circuit up to 16A, and both integrate those readings quickly into Home Assistant. The Shelly Plus 1PM ties that data to a relay it controls, while the Shelly PM Mini Gen3 simply observes a circuit switched by something else.

Buy the Shelly Plus 1PM if you want one module that switches a 16A load, reports its consumption and protects it against overheating, overvoltage, overcurrent and overpower. Dry contact mode also covers gate and boiler inputs, and it runs entirely locally with Home Assistant.

Buy the Shelly PM Mini Gen3 when you only need visibility, for example on an oven, a heat pump or a lighting circuit you do not want to control. It is tiny, precise, cheap, doubles as a Shelly BLU gateway and comes with a 3-year warranty.
