The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is the robot vacuum this sheet crowns, because the dock washes and dries the mop and the robot joins Matter, Apple Home and SmartThings. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus is the better reviewed and the more affordable, with 285 minutes against 120, a 3 year warranty against 1 year, and a 5L bag, but its mop is a trailing pad with no washing or drying. Suction is 13000Pa on both. Choose the iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo for a maintained mop, and the Dreame D20 Pro Plus when runtime and warranty lead.

What the differences mean

Mop maintenance

The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo washes the mop, dries it, lifts it for carpet and doses detergent. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus mops with a trailing pad and does none of those. If the pad has to stay clean without you, the Roomba is the only one of the two that tries.

Runtime and warranty

The Dreame D20 Pro Plus is rated for 285 minutes, recharges in 6 hours and carries a 3 year warranty. The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo is rated for 120 minutes, recharges in 4.5 hours and carries a 1 year warranty. That is why the Dreame still has a real case.

Dust storage

The Dreame D20 Pro Plus puts debris in a 500ml onboard bin and a 5L dock bag, and its water tank is 0.35L. The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo does not publish onboard, dock or tank capacity. Both self-empty.

Smart home

The iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo supports Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, SmartThings, Home Assistant and Matter, on 2.4 and 5 GHz. The Dreame D20 Pro Plus supports Alexa, Google Home and Home Assistant, on 2.4 GHz only, with no Apple Home, SmartThings or Matter.

What owners say

Owners of both report a first map that lands on mixed floors and useful pet-hair pickup, then the complaints diverge. Dreame D20 Pro Plus owners like overnight quiet and a bag they rarely change, and a share of them report weak suction, hair in the brush, debris clumped on the pad, bags that jam and charging that failed. iRobot Roomba Max 705 Combo owners who kept the unit like the extending roller and dry-looking floors, and many report false tank errors, leaks, unfinished jobs, streaks, a schedule that breaks and slow support. Read both groups as mixed, not as a clean win in the reviews.
