TP-Link Tapo RV20 Max Plus Review: Ultra-Slim With a Self-Emptying Dock

A low-profile body, 5,300 Pa suction, 180 minutes of runtime and a 3 L auto-empty dock, built for homes where furniture clearance is the constraint.

The verdict

The RV20 Max Plus is Tapo's ultra-slim model with the self-emptying dock attached. The low chassis is the point: it reaches under sofas, beds and cabinet kick plates that stop taller robots, while still carrying LiDAR navigation, 5,300 Pa suction, a 300 ml onboard bin and up to 180 minutes of runtime, which is the longest in Tapo's line. The 3 L dock bag handles up to 60 days of debris. Mopping is basic, with a trailing pad and onboard tank. This review is based on the verified specification, as Amazon review data could not be retrieved for this listing.

Best for
  • Homes with low-clearance furniture
  • Buyers wanting the longest Tapo runtime
  • Apartments and mid-size homes
  • Hard floors with low-pile carpet

Pros

  • Ultra-slim chassis reaches under low furniture
  • Longest runtime in the Tapo range at 180 minutes
  • Self-emptying dock with a 3 L bag for up to 60 days
  • LiDAR mapping with no-go zones
  • Managed in the Tapo app with other TP-Link devices

Cons

  • 300 ml onboard bin is small without the dock
  • No mop washing, drying or auto-lifting
  • 5,300 Pa suction is modest for deep carpet
  • 2.4 GHz WiFi only, no Matter or Apple Home
  • Amazon owner reviews could not be retrieved for this listing

Who is the Tapo RV20 Max Plus for?

If the dust you care about lives under the sofa, this is the Tapo to buy. The ultra-slim chassis is designed for low clearances, and unlike many slim robots it does not give up the dock: the auto-empty base takes a 3 L bag rated for around 60 days. The 180-minute runtime is the longest in the range, so larger single floors are within reach on one charge.

What the specification offers

LiDAR smart navigation covers mapping, obstacle and cliff detection, multi-room support and no-go zones, all set in the Tapo app. Suction is 5,300 Pa with a claimed dust pickup rate above 97%, and the onboard bin holds 300 ml before the dock empties it. The robot weighs 7.55 kg and the dock measures 228 x 164 x 330 mm. Mopping uses an onboard water tank and a trailing pad.

Where the compromises are

The slim body limits onboard bin volume to 300 ml, which is why the dock matters. There is no mop washing, drying or auto-lifting, so carpet needs the pad removed manually and mopping is a light pass. Suction at 5,300 Pa is aimed at hard floors rather than deep carpet. Connectivity is 2.4 GHz WiFi only, with no Matter, Apple Home or SmartThings.

How it fits the range

Compared with the RV30 Max Plus, this trades a slightly taller body for lower clearance and longer runtime at a similar level of suction and navigation. Compared with the plain RV20 Max, the Plus adds the auto-empty dock. If under-furniture cleaning is your priority and you want hands-off dust handling, this is the combination to pick.
