2026 verdict
Ten wired ports go up against five in this matchup, yet the Asus RT-BE58U still wins the overall verdict over the Asus RT-BE88U on price, leaving the RT-BE88U to win only on owner rating.
Both routers are dual-band Wi-Fi 7 with no 6 GHz band, but the RT-BE88U scales up dramatically on wired connectivity: a 10G RJ45 port, a 10G SFP+ cage, four 2.5G ports and four Gigabit ports for ten in total, plus LAN link aggregation, against the RT-BE58U's five ports topped by a single 2.5G connection. The RT-BE88U also posts a higher 7.2 Gbps combined Wi-Fi rating against 3.6 Gbps on the RT-BE58U. Both carry the same full VPN suite, AiMesh support, USB storage sharing and a matching 3-year warranty. Choose the Asus RT-BE88U if you will actually wire a NAS, switches or a small business setup into its multi-gig ports; pick the Asus RT-BE58U for the same core software feature set at a lower entry price.
