Ecobee's flagship against its middle model, and the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium comes out ahead because it adds a remote SmartSensor in the box, air quality sensing and a speaker with Siri or Alexa built in.
Its TVOC and CO2 sensors drive air quality alerts and filter reminders, fire alerts are available with a Smart Security subscription, and owners rate it higher. The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced shares everything else that matters day to day: the same 4 inch 540 x 540 colour touchscreen, proximity and occupancy sensing, remote sensor support with presence-based selection, dual-band Wi-Fi, a trim plate, the learning schedule, Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant support and a three-year warranty, in a lighter 458 g body against 630 g. Neither supports Matter. Choose the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium for a sensor, air quality and voice in one purchase, and the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced if you only need the thermostat and can add sensors later.

What the differences mean
Sensor in the box
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium ships with a remote temperature sensor, so it can balance a second room from day one. The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced supports the same sensors but does not include one, so it has to be bought separately.
Air quality
The Premium measures TVOC and CO2 and sends air quality alerts and filter change reminders. The Enhanced measures temperature and humidity only, which is enough for comfort but says nothing about stale or polluted air.
Voice and speaker
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium has a speaker and a choice of Siri or Alexa built in, so it can be spoken to directly. The Enhanced has no speaker and takes voice commands only through a separate smart speaker.
Security add-ons
Both offer intruder alerts with an Ecobee Smart Security subscription, but only the Premium can also listen for a smoke alarm and send fire alerts under that subscription.
Size and weight
The Premium weighs 630 g and is 25.9 mm deep, against 458 g and 23.88 mm for the Enhanced. Both share the same 103.89 mm square face, so on the wall they look alike.
