What the differences mean

Apple Home

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced supports Apple Home, including Siri voice control. The Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat does not, so an iPhone household is left with the Sensi's own app.

Occupancy and Away mode

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced senses proximity and occupancy, and turns the temperature down when nobody is home. The Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat has no occupancy sensing.

Alerts

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced sends alerts for sudden temperature drops or spikes. The Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat sends none.

Screen and size

Both have a color touchscreen. The Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat measures 4.3" in a 142 x 82 x 20 mm body, while the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced has a 4" screen (540 x 540 px) that also shows the weather, in a 104 mm square body.

Room sensors and connectivity

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced works with ecobee SmartSensors, sold separately, and adds Bluetooth. The Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat also supports external sensors, and both have dual-band Wi-Fi.

What owners say

Owners of both thermostats like a clean touchscreen, a straightforward DIY install and remote sensors that even out the rooms of a house. Ecobee Smart Thermostat Enhanced owners, many of them switching from a Nest, praise the sleek design, the app, automatic Home, Away and Sleep scheduling and real energy savings, often with utility rebates. They add that a home without a C-wire needs the included power adapter, and some find the app confusing, the scheduling less granular than older systems and Home Assistant harder to connect. Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat owners single out the glass touchscreen and the guided step-by-step installation, praised by first-timers and professionals alike, though a minority report Wi-Fi problems over time and one experienced installer missed advanced HVAC features.
