Google Nest Thermostat vs Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat

Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat, on price, 7-day scheduling, a large touchscreen, on-device voice control, HVAC health monitoring and a 2 year warranty. Nest Thermostat wins on sensing, adding occupancy, proximity, humidity and ambient light, plus dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

No. Neither Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat nor Nest Thermostat accepts external temperature sensors, so both work from the temperature at the wall. If uneven rooms are the problem, a T9 or a Nest Learning model with sensor support is the better direction.

Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat offers flexible 7-day scheduling plus geofenced Auto Home and Away with monthly energy reports. Nest Thermostat uses guided schedule setup in the Google Home app with an eco and away mode driven by phone location and its motion sensor, but it does not learn.

Both cover the big three assistants. Nest Thermostat adds SmartThings and IFTTT to Google Home, Alexa and Apple HomeKit. Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat lists Google Assistant, Alexa and Apple HomeKit. Neither supports Matter.

Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat has a much larger 4.95 inch monochrome touchscreen that reads well across a room. Nest Thermostat uses a smaller 2.4 inch colour IPS panel that shows temperature, weather and time, but it is controlled by a side touch strip rather than a touchscreen.

Google-centric homes that want occupancy and humidity sensing, a sleek mirrored display and HomeKit compatibility at a low price, and that accept the Google Home app as the only control point. For scheduling depth, a bigger screen and maintenance reminders, Honeywell Home T5 Smart Thermostat is the better buy.
