What the differences mean
Cable along the vanity
The Eve Water Guard includes a sensing cable, and the leak feature is written as water detection with that cable, so one unit can follow a supply run under the vanity. The GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 has no sensor cable. It is a spot sensor. Water has to reach that one body, or you buy another sensor for the next joint.
Wall power or AAA cells
The Eve Water Guard is wired. Battery type and battery life are marked not applicable, and so is a low-battery alert, because there is no cell to die. Placement has to reach an outlet. The GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 runs a rated 2 years on two AAA cells and can sit anywhere the gateway can hear it. The gateway itself still needs power.
Apple Home or a closed gateway
The Eve Water Guard uses Thread, with a Thread border router required, plus Bluetooth. It lists Apple Home and Home Assistant. Matter is marked soon, not current. It does not list Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings. The GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 needs the included gateway and lists none of Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings or Matter. Home Assistant on the Govee is not documented.
Local alarm
Both have an on-device sound and an on-device light. The Eve summary calls its siren 100 dB. The GoveeLife summary uses the same 100 dB figure. This is not a reason to pick one over the other. Weather resistance is listed for the Eve without an IP code. The Govee is IP66. Neither reads temperature.
Which one to buy if
- you want Apple Home to see a cable under the vanity
The Eve Water Guard joins Apple Home over Thread, includes the sensing cable, and needs no separate vendor account according to its owners.
- you want a battery puck and the lower price
The GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 is the more affordable of the two, runs on AAA cells, and includes its gateway.
- there is no outlet under the cabinet
The Eve Water Guard is mains powered, so it cannot sit where there is no socket. The Govee is battery powered.
- one sensor should cover several joints in a row
The Eve Water Guard's sensing cable follows a run. The GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 watches only the spot under its body.

What owners say
Owners of the Eve Water Guard and owners of the GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 both describe a loud alarm and a real leak caught in time, from a washer drip to water where it should not be. Eve Water Guard owners single out scan-and-add setup in the Home app with no manufacturer account, and a cable that covers a run of pipe rather than one spot. They complain about the price against simple pucks and about needing a wall outlet, which limits where it can sit. GoveeLife Water Leak Detector 2 owners single out a fast guided setup and a 100 dB alarm plus email. They complain that the system stays in the Govee app and that the gateway has to stay plugged in for every sensor.
